Our precious girl

Sorry this has taken me so long to post, but here we are!

Adalynn Zoe Ohnemus was born into the world: August 1, 2009 at 5:22 pm. She weighed 8 pounds 0 ounces and was 21 inches long.

My labor started at 5 o'clock in the morning and I got to 10 centimeters at approximately 5 pm that afternoon. I pushed for 20 minutes, and we had our baby girl! I could not have asked for a better labor and delivery/ nursery/ postpartum experience. Thanks to EVERYONE at BMCE for making sure we were safe and healthy!

Change in plans!

So...I went to see Dr. Miller today for a regular check-up, and like the good patient that I am I brought her my BP log of the last week. She didn't like what my blood pressure had been this past week AT ALL. She asked me if I'd put myself on the books already for induction, and I told her that I did for next Thursday...and she says "Hmm..I just don't know...let me think on that." Then she checks my reflexes and my swelling and my liver..."I just don't know...what do you think about Saturday?" (Hold on a minute, let me pick myself up off of the floor). Okay....Saturday...sure...2 days from now....sure! Adalynn is strong and healthy and mature and Dr. Miller doesn't see the point in waiting any longer...when I could potentially get sick and put both of us @ risk. So, pics of our little girl...outside my womb...will be posted soon! :)

Haha...that quote from Alice in Wonderland keeps running through my mind!! Kevin and I talked about it and....(drum roll please..) August 6th is the date we have chosen! It is a Thursday, so Kevin will only have to take off 2 days from work...he can back on Monday...if he can stand it!

So we will arrive @ the hospital about 5 am and they'll start my IV and get the Pitocin started....I'll get my epidural when I start to hurt...and then we will wait on our little girl! Can't believe it's only two weeks away!!

So...I just got back from Dr. Miller's office...everything is looking good- Adalynn is happy- her heartrate is great and her valves sound beautiful :) She has dropped some!! Yay! My blood pressure is running about the same as it was last week, and I've been checking it daily and it has not been crazy high. Dr. Miller was okay with what my BP had been through the week. She said that she does not want me to go past 39 weeks since my BP has been slightly elevated. She doesn't want me to end up getting sick and not be able to enjoy our baby- not to mention that she just doesn't want me to get sick and put mine and Adalynn's health in jeopardy. So....Kevin and I have 3 dates to choose from...August 5,6, or 10th! Ack! How do you choose the day your baby will potentially be born?? I mean, this is a day she will be stuck with for the rest of her life! I will update later when we have chosen a date! :)

Pancakes!

So... a while back Amanda @ More than words wrote a blog entry about pancakes and how McDonald's makes them. McDonald's apparently replaces the liquid called for in the pancake mix with Sprite. Well....I made them this morning and they were SO yummy!! The pancakes were so light and fluffy! The batter even bubbled before I put them in the pan! So...the next time YOU make pancakes...try them with Sprite! :)

Adalynn is head down just like she is supposed to be! Yay!! She weighs approximately 6 lbs 8-9 oz. She is so cute! I love her lips and cannot wait to eat her up!!! :) She has a lot of hair, on the ultrasound it was floating around like a little spiky-do! I just hope it's not a whole 4 more weeks before we get to meet our little girl!!

Update: I bought a BP machine so I could take mine daily- today it's 125/84. Better- being off work must really be a good idea....

Home from work!

Well, yesterday was a Dr. appt for me and I got some news from Dr. Miller. She's been concerned about my swelling (feet, hands, face) lately. Especially since my face has started looking more and more puffy- usually pregnant women have dependent swelling (i.e. feet and hands) but the facial swelling can be a sign that blood pressure is starting to rise or your kidneys aren't functioning quite as well as they used to. Last week at my doctor visit she told me she wanted me to start coming weekly, since my face was swelling so she could keep tabs on my blood pressure.

My blood pressure was 133/85. Although that's not horrible, it's not great either. My feet are awful, too. I feel like I am walking around on elephant ankles/feet by the end of the day. So...Dr. Miller comes in and tells me that I am not going back to work anymore. :( Although I had been contemplating this, I hoped to wait a few more days...or at least another week before I bit the bullet. Oh well. For someone who loves her job as much as I do- it's a hard pill to swallow.

So I went by work yesterday to pick up all of the FMLA paperwork and tell the girls goodbye. Bittersweet....

So for now, I will be laying around at home eating bon-bons!! HA! No, seriously, I don't know what to do with my time, I'm not supposed to be running around Walmart, or cleaning my house like crazy... I am under strict orders to "take it easy." I will do it, as a labor and delivery nurse, I know the risks of high blood pressure with pregnancy (well, period) and so I know how important it is to control mine.

In other news, I have an ultrasound scheduled for today. Dr. Miller wants to make sure that our little one is head down (she was for the 4D ultrasound) and ready to come out when the time comes! I'll also get her estimated weight. I'll fill you in on the details when I get them!

Baby Shower!

This past Sunday was my baby shower at church! It was SO much fun! It is a little overwhelming to think how many people love us and will love Adalynn and help to "raise" her. I am fully aware that it takes a village to raise a child, and I think we have a pretty awesome village! Thanks to all of you who worked so hard, it showed! Father's Day

I know this is a little late, but I did celebrate Father's Day for Kevin! He is so wonderful to me and I know he is going to be a great Dad to Adalynn. He is already so involved in her life- and I am so glad of it! He has been able to go to the past few doctor appointments with me- a blessing that came from his knee injury and having to be off of work -and he loves hearing her sweet little heart beat (as do I).

Kevin also reads to Adalynn. He reads her the Dr. Suess books that we have and she responds so much to his voice! Moving and kicking! It is so sweet the way he reads to her, he describes all of the pictures and tells her the words and what they mean. I can tell how patient he will be with her and what a good teacher he will be as she learns all about this world we live in.

I have been blessed with a wonderful husband. Words cannot express how grateful I am to God for blessing me with Kevin. I know that I am going to fall more in love with him as I see how much he loves the little girl that we created together. I cannot wait to see him hold her for the first time. My prayer for her is that she will find a man who will respect her and take care of her the way that her Daddy takes care of me. If she can find even half of the man that Kevin is, she will be happy. Thank you, sweetheart, for being so wonderful.

4D pictures!!

Adalynn's 4 D ultrasound was today, and it's our 3 year wedding anniversary! She gave us a perfect anniversary present...beautiful pictures of a beautiful little girl! She is SO pretty, we are in love :) Here are our favorite pictures from the ones we got...

Here is where we made her mad- see how her brow is frowning and she has her wrist in her mouth.

Her precious face. She has Kevin's chin and my nose....I think she has Kevin's lips too (mine are skinny lips ;) Her arm is in front of her face- this is the way she was for the whole ultrasound except when we made her mad. I imagine she'll put her hands in her face when she comes out, too!

In this one you can see that she has hair...kinda looks like a Mo-hawk on the top of her head. (It just looks like that b/c her hair is floating in the water) Although, Kevin says it will be okay with him if she really does have a mo-hawk...haha

Right now she weighs 3 pounds, 11 ounces and is measuring 3 days ahead of her due date, in the 53rd percentile. She is perfect and we can't wait to meet her!

Gatlinburg trip

We went to Gatlinburg in May ( I know it's been forever- sorry). Here are some pics from our trip, we had a blast! This was our "baby-moon."

Stoney-Mountain Knife works....Kevin's request! It was a really neat place...if you ever go, you should visit. Try it WITHOUT a reconstructed ACL! Much easier!

Adalynn's 4D ultrasound is tommorow (our 3 year wedding anniversary...perfect :) , so I will post pictures then, and we have almost finished with her nursery. Pictures coming soon! I can't wait to reveal it, it is SO pretty! :)

My first Mother's (to be) Day!

Last night Kevin surprised me with a beautiful Peridot ring (that I've been eyeing for a little while) for Mother's Day. He also got me a precious card :) Adalynn kicked me all morning during church....I guess I'm doing a good job being her Mommy since she's getting so strong :) Mother's Day truly is wonderful!

I am SO grateful to my mother for raising me and Mitch to be the adults that we are today. She is a precious woman who truly has a servant's heart and loves the Lord and all the people around her so much! She is in Gatlinburg, TN today, and I hope she is having a wonderful time enjoying the beautiful scenery on this, her day! I love you Mom!

I am also extremely grateful to have a WONDERFUL mother-in-law who loves me just like I am one of her own and who raised her son to be the man I love today. I know that if it were not for her, Kevin would not be the wonderful, gentle, hard-working husband (and father :) that he is. Thank you so much, Maria for raising him to be the man he is! I love you!

26 weeks!

Friday appt and PT

Kevin got 91 degrees of flexion on his knee yesterday!!! I am SO PROUD of him!!!! Totally made my day! :)

He got a good report from Dr. Mattox- he took x-rays and everything looks good. He will get his stitches out on Monday @ therapy.

We are (hopefully) going to Gatlinburg with Mom, Dad and Mitch next Wednesday through Saturday. Kevin got the okay from Dr. Mattox to go but is still a bit apprehensive about the car ride....I think he'll be fine by Wednesday and will enjoy/ need the change of scenery for his mental health :) haha
I'll post pics from Gatlinburg when we get back!!

Kevin- after surgery updates

Kevin's surgery went really well yesterday- sorry I didn't get to post, but we were exhausted! (4:45 am is WAY too early to wake up!)

Dr. Mattox found a little more damage than expected, some cartilage had broken off and was hanging in there- that is part of the reason Kevin has had so much pain in the last few weeks and was unable to get his leg completely straight.

His meniscus was completely shredded- irrepairable. Dr Mattox took out the damaged part and left in all that he could of the meniscus that was intact. Dr. Mattox said that in the past they used to repair meniscus fairly often, but so many times they would have to go back in and take out the part that was repaired because it would cause pain or interfere with range of motion. They have found that if the meniscus is not a clean tear, it is best to just take it out and clean it up rather than try to repair it.

Dr. Mattox was able to use his hamstring ligament for the ACL graft. We are so happy with that! The bone-patella-bone graft would have been SO much more painful!

The anesthesiologist was able to put in some nerve blocks in his femoral and sciatic nerves to help with post-op pain. They are starting to wear off, but we are keeping pain medication in him so that we stay ahead of the pain instead of waiting on it to get bad and trying to chase it. So far, the most he has rated his pain is a 6-7 out of 10, I'd say that's pretty good (that doesn't count Physical Therapy!).

We got home about 12:20 from his first Physical Therapy visit. He did really well! I was so proud of him! I must have prayed for him about this every time my alarm went off last night to give him pain medication. He started off @ 55 degrees flexion (bending) and at the end of the visit he had 70 degrees flexion! Yay for Physical Therapy! He is also only 8 degrees away from having his leg completely extended. :)

We got home and had lunch and he is now zonked out on the couch. I know he is exhausted from the pain and the physical therapy session.

Thank you all so much for your prayers! Sorry I haven't had much on the pregnancy lately, Adalynn is doing really well! She is SO active! Moving around all the time! I can tell she is getting stronger everyday! I am so thankful that this pregnancy has been healthy and uneventful to this point considering Kevin needs me right now! I am hoping to have her nursery put together by the end of the month, so I will post pics then. I will try to get a pic of me up asap, but I have a few other things on my mind right now :)

Kevin's knee surgery time

It's hard to believe that May 4th is almost here. We are supposed to be at the Montgomery Surgical Center @ 6 am Monday morning and Dr. Mattox is expecting to start @ 7:30. If everyone would please keep Kevin in your prayers, we would greatly appreciate it. Pray that everything goes well, the repair is a success, and that he has a peace about the surgery. Also, please pray for his pain level after surgery. We are expecting to leave the Surgical Center by 10 am (approximately).

Thank you so much in advance for all of your prayers. We know that we have a lot of awesome prayer warriors out there!

Doctor appointments!

Yesterday was a doctor appointment for me and Kevin! I took Kevin to work yesterday morning and went straight to Dr. Miller's office (my appt was at 9:15). I got a Starbuck's White Chocolate Mocha Frappachino on the way there...I was about to fall asleep! I did not sleep well on Sunday night AT ALL. I kept tossing and turning...couldn't find a comfy spot. I have chronic back pain and migraines, but the medication I've been on in the past is not safe for pregnancy so this is one thing I have to deal with. Dr. Martin had written me a prescription for a muscle relaxer that is perfectly safe to use in pregnancy, but I had run out of it about 3 weeks ago and although I had a refill, I thought I was doing well. BIG MISTAKE! So yesterday I talked to Dr. Miller about it and she suggested that I also get a maternity belt to help support my tummy and my lower back...I wore it yesterday and it really seemed to help with the lower back pain and the round ligament pain I've been having. I also got the muscle relaxer refilled yesterday, so I actually got some sleep last night! Kevin had bought me a gift certificate for a massage on Valentine's Day, so I just got home from that and I am feeling much better! :)

Anyway....back to the Dr. appt.... My blood pressure is still great, and everything looks perfect! Her heartbeat was 146 bpm and she kicked the ultrasound doppler that was listening to her heartbeat 3 times! :) She's a fiesty one already :) Susan, the nurse, measured my uterus and Adalynn is growing perfectly...she is right on target for as many weeks along as she is. I have gained a total of 15 POUNDS!! ACK!! I made a face when Dr. Miller told me how much I've gained and she said that is perfect! She said just to keep eating healthy and the weight will follow....I decided that if she's not worried about it I won't be. But Curves can look forward to seeing me come late August or early September!!

Okay, on to Kevin's Dr. appt! He is doing well with his Physical Therapy, Dr. Mattox does not want him to take up any more of his approved visits before the surgery, so he wants Kevin to focus on his PT @ home. Dr. Mattox relieved some of Kevin's fears about the surgery, about going under general anesthesia. I was glad that Dr. Mattox made Kevin feel better. Dr Mattox said he would scope Kevin's knee to repair or clean up the meniscus, depending on what he finds when he gets in there. Then he will make a 1-2 inch long incision on the inside of Kevin's knee, from which he will take the graft from the hamstring and be able to repair the ACL from there. He really feels that Kevin will have a faster recovery from this technique, and be in less post-op pain than from the bone-patella-bone graft. So....on to May 4th!

Lads to Leaders and 22 week pic!

This past weekend we went to Lads to Leaders in Atlanta! We had a wonderful time! I was so proud of all of the kids! (Especially my girls....I have to brag!!) Update on Kevin's knee

We had our MD visit today with Dr. Mattox and found out that Kevin tore his ACL completely in two (we could see half of it laying on the bottom of his knee joint on the MRI) and he also tore his meniscus (cartilage that cushions the knee joint). You could see on the MRI bleeding coming from the cartilage, so Dr. Mattox thinks that is causing a lot of Kevin's pain. He has a HUGE pocket of fluid in his knee joint still....so hopefully some of that will start to dissipate soon. He has also severely bruised the tibia and fibula and femur. Long story short, Dr. Mattox wants Kevin to go to Physical Therapy(PT) 2x/week for the next two weeks and see him again in 2 weeks (April 20th @ 3 pm) and we set his surgery date for Monday, May 4th. We will call the Friday before the surgery and do his "pre-op" over the phone and find out what time we need to be there Monday.

Yes, Kevin will be going to PT before and after the surgery. Dr. Mattox says that this shortens recovery time and prepares his muscles for the road ahead. He wants him to have almost complete range of motion (ROM) before he has the surgery so that he can get his ROM back quickly. Dr. Mattox said that @ Kevin's next appt he expects Kevin to walk in without crutches (but with the brace) and be able to bend his knee 90 degrees and do some straight leg raises! Pray for him (and for me as I support him) as he works on the PT! I'm sure @ the next appt we will set more PT appointments.

Kevin's surgery will be @ Montgomery Surgical Center. I am pleased about this because I really feel that it is the best place for Kevin to be as far as new equipment, anesthesia personnel etc is concerned.

At the next appt we will be discussing the surgery in its entirity - what incisions will be made where....how he will repair everything etc....so I will post all the gorey details for you after that! In the meantime, I am going to include a diagram or two of knee anatomy here for you to be able to see exactly what we are talking about that Kevin damaged.

Okay, for some reason I cannot write in between the three images....I will summarize them here. The first one shows the knee in it's entirety. This one mainly shows the bones that Kevin bruised. The second one shows the ACL although it is not labeled. It is the white ligament beneath the knee cap that goes from left to right. This one also shows the lateral meniscus and medial meniscus. The tear on the meniscus is in between these two. The third diagram shows the ACL and all meniscus labeled.

Bedding for Adalynn!

I purchased Adalynn's crib bedding today! I know, I know...maybe I shouldn't be buying all of this, but I figure that these are things I won't get from showers....so here's the latest (and hopefully last) purchase. It's so cute!!!!

You can double click on the picture to bring it up bigger if you'd like... and Nancy, I got this off of babysupermall.com. It is called Lulu and it is made by Sweet Potato (a division of Glenna Jean).

I really wanted her room to be something different...NO PINK! and none of the things that you see in the stores all the time, so I think this accomplished my goal! Kevin and I like the fact that it isn't "babyish" and will be able to be used to accent her room for years to come! I am so excited about pulling her nursery together! Once the bedding is in we can pick out paint colors! I think that mom and I are going to paint the flowers on the walls too :).

I promise to get a 21 week pic up here in the next few days. I have to charge my camera....and as you know, our life has been busy with Kevin's knee....I'm posting next on that. I promise, promise, promise to have one up by Wednesday!

Diaper Bag!

I have purchased a diaper bag for Adalynn! I'm so excited! I found these in "Cute as a Button" and decided I'd see if I could find one for cheaper....and try to find one that could be used for a boy as well. These are coated inside and out with laminate so they are wipe and go! Check it out!

This style is called "Seaside" and it is made by Kalencom! Love it!

Kevin's mom just returned from England and went on a buying spree while she was there! Here are just a few of the outfits she bought our little Adalynn. She only let us bring some of them home so that she'll have more for surprises later! :)
T-shirts from England for Adalynn- "I love being a Daddy's girl" and "I'm yummy just like my mummy". Both are long sleeved, but I folded the mummy one in to get them both in one pic.

I love the gray polka dots!! The layers on the dress are scalloped- as well as the bottom of the waistline. Love, love, love it!

Kevin and his knee

Thursday night Kevin was playing church league volleyball and he landed wrong on his leg....he was in excruciating pain immediately. We iced it down and came home and got him on the couch- thanks to lots of help from all the people who helped get him off the court, into the car, and Micheal Erfman who followed us home and helped get him inside. I gave him 800 mg of Motrin and more ice and put it up on the couch.

Friday morning I called Southern Orthopaedic Surgeons and got him an appt with Dr. Tucker Mattox that afternoon @ 1:30- I was supposed to work that day, but I called in considering I had a crippled husband :(. At the appt Dr. Mattox said that after looking @ the x-ray, Kevin has torn his LCL (on the outside of the knee) and possibly his ACL. He feels fairly certain he has torn his ACL. We scheduled an MRI for next Friday and will meet with Dr. Mattox again the following Wednesday. Hopefully we will get to move all of that up if we get the precertification from BCBS faster than expected. If so, we will know more sooner.

Kevin is in a knee brace and using crutches to get around. Needless to say, he is in excruiciating pain most of the time...the swelling on his knee has gone down a little bit so, we are hoping he'll start to have some relief soon. More posts to come later on the progress and prognosis!

Last night, when we were laying in bed, Kevin and I watched my stomach for a little while. The baby was kicking like crazy and I just knew Kevin would be able to see it! He finally saw it! Yay! The baby kicked and he said, "Was that it?!!?" I said, "yes!" He was so excited! I'm so glad that he finally saw it, I know it's frustrating for him for me to be able to feel all of these movements, and he still feels like he's on the outside looking in!

We are both so excited about seeing our baby on the ultrasound Monday!! Can't wait to go register and start getting ready! :)

Last night I was laying in bed reading, and I was concentrating on feeling the baby move @ the same time. I had my hand on my belly and all of the sudden I felt the baby kick me on the inside, and then I felt it on my hand! I said, "Kevin, Kevin! Wake up! I felt the baby kick my hand!!" He said, "Oh, cool!" (keep in mind I woke him up, it was late and he does have to work the next day, I however do not)

I then decided that I would uncover my belly and watch it for a while to see if I could see the baby kick me....I did!! It was so exciting! I had to bite my lip to keep from laughing out loud.

I felt the baby kick me on my right side of my belly and at the same time, my belly went out about 1/2 an inch and then went back in! It was so cool! Now if only the baby would cooperate so that Kevin could feel it! :)

I read a blog, Confessions of a Young Married Couple, and this was on her blog a few weeks ago. I thought it was sad at the time, but the other night I really thought about it. Kevin and I are peacefully driving our car down the road, I am talking to him and not looking at where he is going (yes, he is driving) when suddenly he slams on the brakes. Scared. me. to. death. I said, "What happened?!?" He said, that car just pulled out and I thought he was coming over into our lane. After I breathe for a second, I say, "That really scared me, probably scared the baby too!" He said, "Awww...I am imagining our baby in their jumping and shaking from being scared...." and I thought of this. The other day I told Kevin that our baby is 7 inches long now and he holds up his thumb and pinky finger stretched out like a surfer sign and says, "Surfs up man!" I said, "or woman." He said " I meant man as in reference to the human race. Surfs up man, ridin' the tummy waves." Just thought I'd share a little of my corny husband with you. I cracked up :)

Feeling flutters!

I think that I have felt the baby move! Such a feeling! It's so hard to know exactly what I'm feeling for, but I have felt little flutters in my lower stomach...totally different than anything I've felt before! I really didn't expect to feel the baby this early, but it makes me smile every time I feel it. I have to be sitting really still to feel it @ this point, and I feel it more at night than anything! I can't wait until Kevin can feel the baby move with me! March 23rd is fast approaching! Can't wait to see our little one on the big screen again! More pics and a video to come! ~ Alecia

Doctor Visit # 3

Yesterday was my third Dr. Visit and I got to see Dr. Miller which I was happy about! Kevin was planning on coming to this visit, but since he was sick on Friday his boss said that he really needed him not to leave work :(. I called him on speakerphone while we were listening to the baby's heart beat so that he could hear it. I really want him to be as involved as possible and I know he wants to as well, but I really appreciate him working so hard to support our growing family! The baby's heartrate was 140-150 bpm. Perfect! I have only gained 1 pound since my last Dr. appt, which I was very proud of! (I haven't been especially trying not to gain, but I've been walking on my days off to help keep me in shape and ready for labor- believe me I eat my desserts, for anyone who might be wondering:)

We set up the appt for the official ultrasound...March 23rd @ 1010 in the morning! We will find out what we are having @ that time! We are so excited! Kevin will definitely be there for that one:). Maria (Kevin's mom) will be in England visiting family and she really wanted to bring something back from there for the baby so we will call her and let her know what we are having!

I will post pics soon...at the wedding this weekend someone took a couple of pictures of me and Mitch, and Mom is supposed to get them, so hopefully I can steal one or two and post it on here!

My wonderful husband bought me a gift certificate from Smart Skin spa for Valentine's Day! Today, I enjoyed my manicure, pedicure and brightening facial :) I had so much fun!

Don't I look lovely? The facial is supposed to make my skin "glow." She said it had lots of vitamins and introduced tons of oxygen into my skin. It's supposed to make your face pink for a few hours....but buddy does my skin feel soft :)

I had one of the guys @ work scan me the other day and it seemed pretty obvious that our baby is a girl! No male anatomy was present in the scan, and it was a good scan :) Of course, we will love whatever you are....but we sure are getting used to the idea of a girl!

I have a doctor's appt on Monday, so I'll blog afterwards to let yall know what's going on with that!! 14 weeks and counting!

Kevin and I are going to Encounter with the college group from church this weekend! We are so excited about getting away and worshipping God with other young adults. I promise to post lots of pics when we get back. In the mean time, I ran some errands today....paid bills...etc...now I'm trying to pull the house together so that we can come back to a nice house. I get so frustrated with myself about keeping this house clean. I don't understand why it is so hard for me!! Please pray for me as I journey towards becoming a better housekeeper so that I/we can have a nice home to welcome the little one into.

On a more fun note: I explored downtown Prattville yesterday...that's one of my favorite places to be. I found Hunt's Alley...I know, I know, it's been there forever...anyway....there are 4 little slave shacks behind Prattville Progress and they've been turned into little shops now. I think they are so neat! So much history in one little place! That's why I love downtown Prattville. I think I'm going to make it one of my walking places (I am trying to walk more to stay in shape so I don't lose my "girlish figure" haha). It is so gorgeous downtown when the sun is shining and it's warm out. Okay, back on track...I found this shop called The Potter's House. It's in one of the slave shacks and this lady sells handmade pottery. I will post a pic of what I got when I give it to the person I got it for :) You should definately explore this little piece of our world.

Lynne Griffies has agreed to take pregnant pics of me and Kevin when I get further along! I am so excited!!! I looked yesterday @ a lot of really pretty places in downtown Prattville that could be used for pics. I want to get some really good pics since this is the only time I'll ever be pregnant for the first time :) (I know it sounds silly...but it's such a fun time...I just want pictures of everything!)

Oh, and in case anyone was wondering, Kevin and I have picked out names....

Girl- Adalynn Zoe = happy life
Boy- Asher Lee = Asher is the Hebrew word for happy "And Leah said, "Happy am I! For women have called me happy. " So she called his name Asher" Genesis 30: 13. And Lee is Kevin's last middle name (he has 2).

Profile of his/her precious little face!

The legs!!! They were kicking up a storm today! We are going to have an active little baby on our hands!

He/She put his/her hand up to his/her face! How sweet! :)

The best whole baby picture of all! I think it's the cutest little thing in the whole wide world!

Today I went to the Baptist Medical Center School of Diagnostic Ultrasound to let the students practice scanning me and... as you can see, I got some really good pics!!

The Director says that she thinks she might see something between the legs....so it might be a boy! Who knows!?!

This baby is an active little thing! It was moving around! Jumping all the way up to the top of the sac, kicking, punching etc! It moved so much they had a hard time letting the machine pick up the heartrate (they have to put a tiny circle over the heart, and everytime they had it on it...the baby moved) I laughed so hard! I don't even drink caffiene these days!! It is so amazing to think that all of this is going on inside my body and I don't even know it!

Dr. Visit # 2

Today I saw Dr. Martin because Dr. Miller is out on vacation! So, as usual, they checked my blood pressure..weighed me (only 3 pounds gained, thank you very much!)...and....drum roll please..... doppled for the baby's heartbeat!!! I have to admit, I cheated yesterday at work and doppled it there, but today it is 150 beats per minute! Perfecto! (120-160 is normal)

Yesterday I also got one of our other nurses to ultrasound me for a quick peek @ the baby, and it was in there having a PAR-TAY! Arms and legs going, hopping around! I told Kevin and he said that we are going to have a baby who likes to party...then he put his head down and said "Oh no! We are going to come home from vacation and there are going to be a million kids in the house and the baby (I'm guessing at this point a teenager) will be on the table dancing around!" HA HA! I laughed so hard!! It's so funny to me the things he thinks of...Like Saturday when work called @ 5 am to tell me I was on call, he said "I didn't know what was going on, all I could think was 'We don't have any kids yet, no one should be out!'" He makes me laugh so much!

Tommorow I am going to the Baptist School of Radiology to let the students ultrasound me for practice...hopefully I will get some more pictures to share with yall! Promise to post tommorow!!

This morning in church, Brent's lesson was about the prayer that Paul prayed for the Ephesian brethren in Ephesians chapter 3. I have prayed this prayer many times for Kevin as he was growing as a Christian. In fact, in my Bible, I have "Kevin" written above it to remind me to pray for him daily in his walk with our Father. As I listened to Brent go through the different aspects of Paul's prayer, I realized this is the prayer I have been praying for our child as well. Even so early in this pregnancy, I/we feel a responsibility and obligation to this child to raise him or her up in the Lord. To be healthy, happy and saved is my prayer for this child. And to know the love of our Lord, which is incomprehensible!

" For this reason I BOW MY KNEES before the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the WHOLE family in heaven and earth is named, that he would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through his Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being ROOTED and GROUNDED in LOVE, may be able to COMPREHEND with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height- to KNOW the LOVE of CHRIST which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with ALL THE FULLNESS OF GOD. New Again

Most of them are love songs, the way I feel about the baby and Kevin, but one is called "New Again" it is a ballad between Brad Paisley and Sara Evans. It is sung as if Jesus is telling Mary what to expect as he dies. I just had to share it with yall, it is awesome.

A lot has happened since I last wrote an update! Sorry it took me so long to get back on here, but the holidays were crazy! I promise to get pics up soon!

December 24, 2008~
First ultrasound of our baby! We got to see the heartbeat (119 beats per minute, which is perfect @ this stage of the game). We got pictures of our tiny little baby! Kevin and I went from the Dr's office straight to Storkland and bought picture frames for us and both sets of grandparents. The frame we got for us says "Before I formed you in your mother's womb, I chose you." It is so amazing to me to think that God already knows the number of hairs on this childs head and what he/she will be like, look like etc. God truly is awesome!

The morning sickness has gotten somewhat better, now it's mainly exhaustion! I can take a nap anytime, anywhere!!

January 7, 2009~
I got Dr. Thomas to ultrasound me @ work just so I could see the heartbeat again and reassure myself that everything is fine! Everything still looks great, the little baby is a little bigger and when I laughed, it moved :)
I also decided to volunteer for the Baptist School of Radiology, the students will do a first trimester ultrasound on Jan 27 and then a 20 week one sometime in March! I should get lots of good pictures!

Last night we started Financial Peace University! I am so excited! We are looking forward to learning more about managing our finances and making wise decisions, especially with the baby on the way! So many things to think about!! We have decided to stay in our house for another year or two, we have figured out a way (kudos to Mom) to add a dishwasher to the kitchen, which has been the biggest issue in this house. We figure that the longer we stay here with the mortgage payment so low, we can save more $, get more debts paid off, and have more $ for a downpayment on our next house. We also have to start thinking about college savings for the little one! Whew!! I have a feeling that this journey to "Financial Peace" is going to be a rollercoaster, but a good one!

Lastly, I want to say that I have the most wonderful husband in the world. I do not know what I would do without his support and love. Kevin is so thoughtful of me and works so hard for our family. To think that some women have husbands who aren't worried about finances, or making sure that they have enough to provide for their families astounds me. Every day, especially @ work, I see women bring children into the world with very little, or no support @ all. God has blessed me so much with a wonderful, responsible, Christian husband who cares so much about me and God and our child and wants us to have the best life possible. I love you so much baby! You are going to be a GREAT dad!

1st Dr. Appt!

My first Dr. Appt was yesterday, and everything looks great! I am measuring right at about 6 weeks, which is perfect! Dr. Miller told me to try saltine crackers in the morning before raising my head for the morning sickness...I tried it this morning and it seemed to help. I just have to take it slow in the morning...I'll have to set my alarm earlier so I'm not rushed to jump out of bed in the morning before eating some crackers and drinking some sprite. I had my blood drawn yesterday and set up the appt for our first ultrasound (which is Christmas Eve:)! I thought that the appt would not be as exciting as it was because it was basically just making sure that I'm healthy, but just to have the confirmation that everything is going well and being told by Dr. Miller that I AM PREGNANT! made it all so real! It's so hard to believe that in a week from tommorow we are going to see the first glimpse of our baby and hear his/her heartbeat! Kevin and I are so excited! Again, we appreciate all of your prayers as we go through all of these changes together!

Okay, so last night Mom was asking me what we (Kevin and I) wanted them to be called.... I have NO idea!!! Mom said she likes the name Grammie. I thought it would be neat to see what all of you thought! I don't want them to be called names that sound OLD!!! Suggestions?? Please?? (Kevin's mom wants to be called "Mia" I thought that was cute (her name is Maria))

My first doctor appt is Dec 15, 2008 @ 1:15 pm. I won't have an ultrasound b/c it's still too early...but we will set up the ultrasound appt @ that time. I promise I'll post pics as soon as I get them.

Kevin and I decided to start trying to have a baby about 2 months ago and well...it didn't take long!! I found out this morning that I am pregnant and we are ecstatic! I've been told that I HAVE to start this blog by Brittany Cammack . . . Gardner, so she can follow along with the pregnancy! Anyway, I'm new to blogging, so bear with me...I will post updates (not promising daily...but weekly :) The projected due date is August 16, 2009!! So hard to believe we're going to be parents!!!
